Lines of Service
Our organization divides its mission into five different lines of service: lifesaving blood, disaster relief, health and safety, international services, and youth preparedness. Each line will organize various events throughout the semester that are open to all volunteers. Learn more about each line of service below.
Blood
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. To combat this need, we host monthly blood drives on the UC Berkeley campus and are one of the largest providers of blood in the Northern California Region. The need is constant, the gratification is instant.
Disaster
Disasters can occur at any moment. Especially in the Bay Area, earthquakes and fires are huge catastrophes to prepare for. As such, we teach classes about emergency preparedness, build disaster kits, and install free smoke alarms for low-income households to better prepare our communities.
Health & safety
Cardiac, breathing, and other first aid emergencies require immediate attention. We provide CPR/First Aid/AED certifications to our members as well as teach Hands-Only CPR to the Berkeley community. With the proper guidance and instruction, anyone can learn how to save a life.
Community Engagement
Each year, disasters and crises devastate people all around the world. As part of the American Red Cross, we aim to increase the resilience of communities that are most vulnerable and least likely to have certain resources available by working with various organizations in the Bay Area.
Outreach
Networking with our local American Red cross community and alumni brings more opportunities for us to make an impact on our community. We manage collaborations with other organizations on campus, bring guest speakers, and plan social events to bring a greater sense of belonging.
Publicity
Nothing can be accomplished if no one is aware of it. Our publicity team manages everything from the biweekly newsletters and Instagram to provide our members with the latest, up-to-date information about our upcoming events.
