Favorite ARC memory?
I have had many fun memories volunteering for ARC@Cal from providing first aid for marathon medical tents before sunrise(and watching the sunrise during the event) and installing smoke detectors in underserved communities to having fun at Concessions. If I had to decide on a favorite, it would be how this club and organization has helped me grow as a person while making many new friends along the way through these events. I am very grateful to have gone from starting out as a member following others at events to helping guide new members at events.

Volunteer with the American Red Cross and you’ll understand that we are more than just blood drives and CPR training. The ubiquity of Red Cross will give you a piece of altruism to bring it back home and educate your community, in hopes of strengthening it. Most importantly, you can call ARC@Cal your second home and share your love of service.
Favorite ARC memory?
While there are too many memorable experiences from the goofy and warm retreats, helpful Home Fire Preparedness Campaigns, to energetic half marathons, a favorite of mine will always be how this organization has helped me grow and improve as a person. Not only have I been able to pursue further service opportunities, I now take what I learn and spread it to my hometown.

Favorite ARC memory?
I love each and every Sound the Bell event where we install smoke detectors in the Oakland area! The most memorable one was the one held in the Fall of 2018 (the one where we went to a mobile home community that experienced a recent fire fatality). I got the chance to comfort an old, Christian woman (whose husband recently died) through prayer and haha by request ... playing her piano :) !

Favorite ARC memory?
During the home fire campaign, installing 6+ smoke detectors and meeting home owners that were a variety of ages and spoke different languages. At one of the blood drives I was canteening at, one of the donors asked me if smoking weed makes them ineligible to donate and almost everyone turned to look at my response. The answer is no, if you smoke weed you can still donate. Lol

Interacting with members of the community in the Home Fire Campaign while installing fire alarms was definitely an eye-opening experience. It was also a great bonding experience for club members.

Why join American Red Cross at Cal?
My friends were in the club before I joined, liked the organisation a lot and, since my interests already align with the scope of what ARC@Cal does, such as volunteer work with local communities, education on international and local issues such as refugee problems and disaster relief, and youth outreach, they figured it would be something I would be interested in participating in and recommended it to me. They were right!
Favorite ARC memory?
The home fire event definately had a huge impact on me because it made me realise how little my family has talked about home fire preparedness plans and I made sure to fix that mistake thanks to the event. I had a lot of fun with out ExComm bonding events as well and am very happy that those experiences brought me closer to my fellow ExComm members.

ARC@Cal has brought nothing but positivity, warmth, and fantastic opportunities to help out the community! I have learned so much about the current humanitarian issues that our communities now face as well as ways we can create solutions through blood drives, our Home Fire Campaign, disaster preparedness, and so much more. Not only has this organization allowed me to meet such amazing, compassionate people, but has also helped me grow as an individual. Join ARC@Cal for one of the best collegiate experiences you can get!

There are countless, but I could never forget the fun, crazy times we had at Fall 2018 Retreat at Lake Tahoe! A weekend packed with lots of laughter, singing, sarcasm, views, you name it.

Why join American Red Cross at Cal?
The fact that we can collectively help our community, while meeting some amazing people from diverse backgrounds is what drew me to this club. We have different committees working on different things, but aiming for one common goal of making the world a better place, is what shows that this club can be inclusive and supportive for all. It has been one of my best experiences of college thus far! :)
Favorite ARC memory?
So, so many memories to choose from! I think that one of the top few are doing Home Fire, where we go to different homes in the community to install fire alarms, all the while bonding with members of the club. Another memory would be every blood drive that I have been a part of; seeing the community come together to help others is so fulfilling. We have collected over 1000 pints in the last year and a half! It's so amazing.

The Berkeley chapter of ARC is the perfect medium through which anyone can play an integral role in providing community service that matters while establishing wonderful relationships with peers. With five distinct committees, ARC@Cal has an area of interest for anyone passionate about serving their community. So if you want to make a difference while having a good time, this is the place to be!
Favorite ARC memory?
Although there have been many great memories thus far, the most memorable would have to be working concessions during the Cal vs. UCLA home football game. With a team of only five members, we managed to pull together and have a successful day of concessions. Looking back, it was the realization that what we were doing was for a great cause that made the hard work that day pay off and become a fulfilling overall experience.

Working concessions would have to be one of the most memorable events that I have experienced thus far. Although daunting at first, I can honestly say that I have made my closest friends within the organization through this service opportunity. I worked with a friend in the kitchen and we both shared so many laughs throughout the day while eating delicious and free food!
